Merry Christmas

We all have different definitions about
what makes the season jolly.
For me it is the special effort we make to spend time
with friends and family.
It is also the sensual pleasures of the season:
the smells, the colors, the lights, the decor and of course, the food.
These are the only gifts I seek.

Holiday in the Heart

The absolute best parts of the holidays
are the moments we share with others: the laughter,
the quiet evenings, our reflections, precious memories revisited...
My wish for your Merry Christmas is time,
time to savor it all.

Spreading a little joy is the surest way to
experience some of your own.

Silly little shakers still give me a giggle...

Hoping your season was Merry and Bright and that health and happiness are yours in the coming year.

Christmas Spirit

The wonderful thing about Christmas Arts (and Crafts) is that we can all get involved -- as long as there is joy and intent we are in a "judgement free" zone.  I've been making Christmas art ever year since I covered my mother's kitchen in gold glitter while gluing (or trying to glue) it on Styrofoam balls.  And what's more fun than those crazy Santa cookies we try to decorate?  A mess for sure, and usually not very tasty, but tons of fun and creativity.

With that in mind, I took a trip down memory lane to find photos of some of the holiday art I have more recently constructed...some goofs, some home runs, some failures...but all JOY FULL!
Hope your season was memorable ... try to hang on to the "spirit" as long as possible.

time out......

Merry Christmas!
A wonderful, joyful, celebratory season.
But high spirits also bring low moments and we should remember to pause, take some "time out" and contemplate these feelings.

With so much hoopla and festivity around us it can be hard to find a quiet place to think or reflect.  One of my favorite phrases as a child (and still is) was in the nativity story where Luke reported that "Mary kept all of these things and pondered them in her heart."  I love the thought of pondering in my heart.  So I offer today's art as a way to remind us to ponder, to let our heart feel what it needs to feel even if the lights and music might tell us otherwise for the moment.

It seemed appropriate to make this into a card so I am offering them to you.  No fancy packaging but a darn good price.  All in the spirit!  Send an email to art@cindymichaud.com if you need some cards or want to own the original painting.

Hope this week is spent in joy, including some time for your heart to ponder.

With Color Full Spirits,
Cindy

Still Merry!

Some things are traditional...and give us comfort to repeat again.
Other things begged to be tweaked for creativity and inspiration.

Hope you found the mix that made your Christmas a memorable one.
Happy New Year to us all.

Unseasonal Creativity

Some friends of mine had to take a beautiful cherry tree down and as he was carving up table tops and benches from the huge trunk I asked if he would cut me a few limbs to play with.  I let them dry out and last week decided to sand down the slanted sides when the creative muse decided to visit...out of season no less!

Do you see what I saw?  I brought them inside all sanded and put them on the kitchen bar when they
suddenly took on a life of their own.  I think the muse had Christmas on her mind because I got
the message loud and clear.  There was only one thing
these pieces were destined to be.

A few trips outside and voila!  A cabin nativity scene with all the charm
only nature can provide.  Alas, it does need a few additions like some pinestraw hair for Mary, a bit of moss for Joseph's gotee and (hunting, hunting) a half of  gumball (from the
gum tree) sprayed gold for the center of the star.  All in good time!

A few more walks with the dog and this effort will be finished.  Why
the creative fairy came with a Christmas idea in early fall is anyone's guess, but when
she comes, one must act.  Nah, this is not everyone's
cup of tea, but I love it...
Can't wait to see what else she has up her sleeve.
