Sassy Salsa Art

I'm one of those (shudder) liberal artists who tend to think there is art is almost everything we take some extra time and care to produce....art, for me, is not contained only on a canvas or in a protected glass case.
I mean, who could look at the photo below and NOT consider it "art in process?"

Considering that the tomatoes and onions and peppers were all grown locally there had to be some art to the gardening involved (not my forte I admit).  So I admire the hand, the labor and the effort that an artist put in to bring these vegetables to my table.

And there is an art to canning...obviously, or everyone would do it and do it poorly.

Isn't this as beautiful as a painting?
And believe me, looking at the pantry full of this stuff (and peaches and chutney and pickles) makes me as satisfied as a painting accepted into a show!
Maybe now I will go paint this lovely still life?
Go look for some unusual art today...and pause to enjoy it.

p.s. to my son (FDA employed): yes, darling I read and re-read all the cautions and warnings about high-altitude canning and I promise I followed all the processing instructions to a "T"...no dangers lurking in my pantry...but thanks for caring!

  2. Gorgeous, Cindy. I have always wanted to give it a try. It looks so much tastier than those sitting on the market shelf.

  3. No more patience than trying to get the light and shadow correct on a stubborn painting!! It is almost relaxing...come do it with me. I'll share the "pickled ladies' cukes."

  5. kirk - you are way too smart! actually I am spending the month in my high altitude mountain condo in western NC! A mile higher than my below-sea level home near the coast. We Floridians get a nose bleed at the top of a hill! :)
