I believe that art enriches and informs our lives everyday in many positive ways. Sharing those experiences, whether as an artist or as an appreciator, is part of the pleasure. I welcome your comments and hope you find something of value: a laugh, an insight, a new idea or just a happy moment. Enjoy art!

My Pear Wall(s)

I just don't trust an artist that isn't a collector.  Even a starving artist will find a way to beg, borrow, barter or steal art that they must have.  And collections come in all styles: by artist, by media, by subject, by value and so on.  I want to share one of my favorite personal collections of art: my pear wall.
I love pears: the shapes, the colors, the taste, and their infinite value as a still life subject.  All artists have painted pears at one time or another.  Somedays I even admit that I am shaped much like a pear!

If only my skin were this flawless!!  I digress.  Anyway, my pear collection is as much about my friends and the variety they bring to my life as it is about art.  Each piece is precious for its own reasons.  I will share just a few here but keep in mind that I also have pears handmade in glass (oooohhhh) and pottery (ahhhhh) and brass (clink).  Each piece brings to mind someone in my world that has added color and excitment to it.
Do you have a tiny, precious, personal collection of art?  And why not?

  1. A fun post Cindy. Miss you on Monday's!

  2. Great post, Cindy! I agree! I especially enjoy trading with other painters.

  3. Back soon Carol, altho you are "here" as you know! And C.K.: keep up the trading, it's fun!

  4. If all artists paint pears, I guess I'm gonna hafta get down to the grocery store and see if I can find a pear the inspires me so I can be a real artist when I grow up! LOL

  5. No, no Kirk, not all! Don't even think of changing your subjects! Altho I would love to see the kind of pair (!) that inspires you...
