Last Sneak Peek

Hearting
18" x 18"                                        acrylic and graphite on board

"Before I built a wall I'd ask to know what I was walling in or walling out."
Robert Frost, Mending Wall

"Why in our world must we use mortar?"
Fay Picardi, Dry Walling Stone

"A wall without heart(ing), or without good hearting, is not one you can trust will last
a long time."
J. Shaw-Rimmington, pres., Dry Stone Wallers Assoc., Canada

"Within a wall are all the moments that created it.  They remain there like hidden
messages slipped between the stones as they were placed."
Dan Snow, Listening to Stone

Hearting: The title is a dry walling term which refers to the small, sharply shaped stones used to hold the larger pieces in place.  The quotations I painted go to the “heart of the matter,” asking all the questions I, too, ask when it comes to building walls in our lives.
Cindy Michaud
from "The Stones Speak" series of art and poetry

I love the color and the way the "wall" floats. I love the title.
