It was one of those days: the subject fought, I got mad, the pastel
rebelled and the paper balked.
It was a 2x wiper til I cried "do or die" and nearly did.
For a tiny (5 x 5) piece it fought like the devil. And while I probably learned more
from this one piece than I did all week, it just wasn't fun.
It's from a visit to Rousillion, France where we saw the hills where they mine
pastels...just desserts, huh?
Ever have a piece that just refuses to cooperate?
You made me smile in talking about your frustrating experience! I've had many of those. But in this case I would say you definitely won! Definitely wonderful subject matter to paint, and I absolutely love the texture and colors. The distant hills, the roof tops, the sunny colors of the buildings - it ALL works beautifully!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol...I'm determined to "figure out" the fight and win it....sometimes less successfully than others but i appreciate your comment!
ReplyDeleteI think this turned out beautifully! It has such an atmospheric look to it.
ReplyDeleteYou are kind Kristeena...that's why i appreciate all you do!
